We were established in 1993 as an Engineering Distributor starting from humble beginnings in our former unit on the Sittingbourne Industrial Park.
The founding team were :-
Pa
ul Huxtable who gained his knowledge of the industry after serving an apprenticeship at Winget’s in Strood in the late 50’s through to joining Nettlefold & Moser as a Sales Representative in the 60’s. He founded his own company in 1972 establishing Bearsted Tool Supplies Ltd; this company became one of the largest independent distributors of Tools & Fasteners in the South East. It traded very successfully until the recession bit in the 90’s and saw the sad passing of this company in 1992. The establishment of PJS was key to Paul regaining a foothold in the market despite the difficult trading conditions that prevailed.
Sylvia Huxtable who joined Paul’s business in the early days of Bearsted Tools earned her spurs working in the legal profession for 14 years with Harris & Harris in Sittingbourne. She helped establish Bearsted Tools as a major force in the industry and quickly rose to the challenge when PJS was formed.
Jay Hux
table the junior member of the team joined PJS from Bearsted Tools where he was the leading Salesman dominating the South London area throughout the 80s’s and early 90’s. The opportunity to join the board was made in 1993 and began the start of a career that would lead to him taking over the running of the business in 2003 when the current directors retired.
Over the past seven years Jay Huxtable has taken the company from strength to strength and plans to take the company to levels of success that will ultimately eclipse his father. He has always maintained a ‘hands on’ approach and still has an ‘open door’ approach with his staff, with the majority having ten years or more service. He is very direct in his business approach and believes passionately in the ‘Customer first’ principle. Sadly Paul Huxtable passed away in 2007 leaving his Son with his firm set of business principles based on honesty & integrity that are maintained to the present day.
